Power Glove Relic: Gesture Edition is a defiant 1/1 original contemporary sculpture by Carlos Castillo (Mr. Castle) exploring the intersection of obsolete digital interactive technology, ancient votive statuary, and counter-culture iconography.
Created as part of the ongoing Digital Archaeology cycle, the sculpture fossilises the radical cyber-aesthetic of the 1989 Nintendo Power Glove into a heavy brutalist mineral matrix. The piece captures the peripheral's distinctive anatomical ergonomics: ribbed wrist seals, segmented finger armor, and an integrated forearm input pad with directional controls, recessed numeric buttons, a textured data conduit, and a striking crimson status indicator.
Erupting from an eroded, deeply fissured geological bedrock plinth, the sculpture subverts traditional classical hand studies by adopting a bold, unmistakable gesture of rebellion and pop defiance. Weathered slate-grey surfaces and dry-brushed mineral textures are juxtaposed against deep, light-absorbing black washes and the glove's signature cyan logo typography.
